2 awards in as many months! 🎊 Wow, I am a littl 2 awards in as many months! 🎊 Wow, I am a little taken aback but totally thrilled that I have won another award this year:

✨Psychotherapist of the Year 2022✨

As part of the Corporate LiveWire Innovation and Excellence Awards 2022

I feel truly honoured to receive this second acknowledgement in light of the work that I do.

In truth, it feels a little indulgent to be given the credit, when as most of ‘the work’ is down to my clients and their commitment to becoming more conscious.

It’s also really encouraging to experience first hand, corporate audiences recognising the importance of in-depth self-awareness.

Whether that be gained through therapy, in-depth coaching or leadership development, gaining a personal psychological education totally has its place and potential!

Thank you again, to those who in this #ConsciousCommunity for your cheerleading, kind comments and championing the message of being conscious 🙏🏼

Be conscious and kind,

Charlotte ✨

Well this was a bit unexpected! I feel really prou Well this was a bit unexpected! I feel really proud to have recently won Most Empowering Psychotherapist 2022* and received a GHP Excellence Award in Workplace Wellness Services in the Global Health & Pharma Mental Health Awards!

Usually, in my role as a psychotherapist and leadership coach, the focus and attention is entirely on my client, ensuring that they feel seen, heard and supported.

It feels really rewarding to be professionally acknowledged for not only my 1:1 work, but in the wider context of supporting organisations through psychoeducation and organisational coaching services.

I do believe that amidst the chaos of covid and worldly events that have followed, humanity is waking up to the existential crisis that mental health presents, for which we need organisations, communities, families and leaders to take collective responsibility.

I am privileged to wake up every day, excited to empower my clients to become more conscious so that they can become the fullest expression of their whole potential…

And it feels really good to own that for myself too.

Thank you for whoever nominated and voted in these two categories, and to the people around me who support and cheerlead both personally and professionally, I truly appreciate it.

Gratefully, Charlotte 🙏🏼
This week marks #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek & the t This week marks #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek & the theme for this year is loneliness.

As therapists, @the_peoplepleasing_therapist & I talk to clients about loneliness frequently & the importance of seeking connection & support.

But this silent struggle can also be very real to therapists too, especially when first starting out in private practice.

For both of us, feeling totally alone was an unexpected experience of setting up in private practice…

Having spent years in therapeutic training cohorts, surrounded by peers, tutors & therapists, the transition to lone working & self employment was quite the opposite.

Of course, we had clinical supervision to guide us with clients, but there was no obvious support when it came to setting up in private practice, let alone running a business!

Over the years we found our way, but it wasn’t until we found each other through the @nycp_uk in 2020 that we shared just how lonely we had felt in the beginning.

This is another reason why we felt called to create Planning for Private Practice, an accessible 4 week guided group course that not only provides practical prompts for setting up in private practice, but also offers the personal wisdom that we never had when first starting out.

By no means are we pretending to be the know-it-all guru’s of the private practice world, but we do know what has worked well for us, and where we could have saved ourselves a whole lot of time, money and anxiety if we had the support we are offering now!

So if you are a therapist-in-training wanting to explore the reality of running a practice, a qualified therapist ready to take the leap, or a MH professional wanting to set up on your own, then this course is perfect for you!

Swipe through for how it works & follow the link in my bio for the finer details.

Of course, if you have any questions send us a DM. We have a very limited number of spaces left, with doors closing at 9pm this Friday 13th May 2022, so make sure you secure your space before it’s too late!

We are so delighted to welcome you next Monday 16th May 2022 to our first group gathering at 6pm GBT.

With the warmest of wishes,

Charlotte & Elsie 🙏🏼
So it’s an end of an era… The chairs are pack So it’s an end of an era…

The chairs are packed

The crystals carefully wrapped

The cushions boxes up

And the final goodbye said

For 5 years, this summerhouse has served as a sacred space for so many clients…and for me too

This space has heard hundreds of stories

Seen many tears, but many more smiles

Held space for healing

And contained comfort and laughter

But beyond this summerhouse, it’s an end of an era for me as a therapist too

For as long as I have been in private practice I have worked from a summerhouse

I recreated the space inspired from my own first therapeutic experience when I was 20

But with my new house comes a new venture and the opportunity to create a new therapy room

I personally thank you each and every client who has journeyed with me so far; it is quite incredible that all of you are willing to travel and continue our work together 🙏🏼

Thank you also to clients past and present who have sent some truly lovely messages since I announced my move

It has been a welcome reminder of how special this summerhouse has been to so many

With endings, come new beginnings

Onto the next chapter…✨
You cannot change what happened in your past...But You cannot change what happened in your past...But in order to allow yourself to evolve for our future, you must allow your past to evolve too.

Morning musings on what this means? Let me share my thoughts...

Letting the past evolve means:

~ that with a deepened sense of self-awareness, you are able to explore even the darkest parts of the past, with new eyes

~ that with an awakened understanding of your earliest experiences, attachments and internalised beliefs, you can begin to separate out unhelpful patterns of behaviour that were part of your survival personality (false self)

~ that the conditioned ways you went about getting your needs met, aren’t the way you always have to

~ that the shame you still feel about past actions, does not serve in your growth

~ that no matter how ‘damaged’ you think we are, there is always opportunity for healing when you take responsibility for it

~ that though nothing in the past can be changed, you can change for the better from it

As they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing - and it is, if you allow yourself to learn and grow from it.

It serves no one to keep yourself stuck in the past or punishing yourself for past mistakes.

To become the fullest expression of your future potential, your past must become a path of wisdom, not wounding 🙏🏼

Be conscious,

Charlotte ✨
Helping women to #beatthebias is an integral part Helping women to #beatthebias is an integral part of my therapeutic and leadership work.

As women, societal conditioning, gender bias, stereotyping and discrimination begins even before we are born.

We arrive on planet earth to some degree already ‘categorised’ by history, and it is only natural that we inherently internalise archaic narratives and outdated projections.

Whether it takes form through our education systems, our professional workplaces, or in our family, friendships and relationships…we each carry unconscious bias that holds us back in life, whether that be in obvious or subtle ways.

I speak with so many women who have experienced discrimination first hand…

And many more women who have learnt to discriminate themselves (in the unconscious belief that they were protecting themselves)

How many of you women *didn’t* put yourself forward for an opportunity because you already had a ready-made narrative of why you wouldn’t get it? Hands up? 🙋🏻‍♀️

The first step to breaking the bias is to take individual responsibility of your own inner work!

And I am here to help you…

In honour of #IDW2022 I am offering 5 women the opportunity of a 60 minute 1:1 deep dive session where you will:

🧠 Uncover unconscious conditioning and identify limiting beliefs
💡 Break free from bias that is holding you back
🧱Build your confidence and courage with practical tools & insights

One time investment: £97
Flexibility on the time of session - weekdays & weekends

If you are ready to break free from the bias and would like to take advantage of this limited offer, send me a DM with #breakthebias below👇🏼

When my clients begin to meet their authentic selv When my clients begin to meet their authentic selves, sometimes for the first time in their life, many of them experience a sense of imposture syndrome around their friends, family or colleagues.

‘I don’t know how to be myself around them anymore’

‘I feel like I’m being fake’

‘It’s like there this whole new me but no one else knows who I really am’

Many express feelings of guilt or anxiety, as if they are doing something wrong because they aren’t necessarily ‘coming out’ as their real selves…

But here is the thing, #authenticity isn’t about being ALL of who you are ALL of the time.

Authenticity is sacred, a privilege and in the words of @brenebrown, people have to ‘earn the right’ to meet the vulnerable parts of your being. It sometimes is a matter of emotional safety.

Authenticity is about choice - based on wisdom of experience - of who has earned that privilege, and who perhaps does not have the capacity to meet you in that vulnerability.

Maybe your partner has the capacity…

…but your mother doesn’t.

Maybe your ‘best friend of 20 years’ only knows how to relate to your 18 year old self and certain boundaries will need to be in place for her to truly meet you now.

And don’t forget, authenticity is not a destination we arrive at, it is a constant expanding and deepening of connection to ourselves.

Which means it isn’t all rosy either…authenticity may look like inconsolable grief; owning your disappointment; feeling your way through anger.

So if you’re reading this post and thinking ‘yes…yes…yep, that’s me!’…

Be gentle with yourself, you are doing a part of the most important self work of the world 🌎

705 days from originally planned 3 times attempted 705 days from originally planned
3 times attempted
1 last minute covid cancellation
And many miracles later…

And I have finally made it to South Africa for what is a very belated honeymoon 🇿🇦

The two weeks in the run up to our flight, even with mindful precautions, I was directly exposed twice to covid, as was my husband.

I cannot express in words the level of anxiety that I experienced in those two weeks waiting to see if we would have to cancel everything again.

Catastrophising thoughts
Heightened paranoia
Insomnia
Dry mouth
Tingling lips
Burning swollen tongue
Globus sensation (constricting of throat muscles)

I’ll be honest, there have been far more ‘Big T’ traumatic events in my life, and yet I have never experienced such intense psychosomatic anxiety symptoms.

I pulled on everything I learned in my training as a #psychotherapist and #coach that I support with clients:

Breathing
Grounding
Journaling
Mindfulness
Rationalising
Circles of control
Gratitude lists
Walks in nature
And a bit of cathartic crying too

I’ll be honest that I also grappled with a sense of shame that I was struggling (but I too have to remember I am human!)

Thankfully all was okay in the end; and I have to remember, even if we had had to cancel, life would have continued and there is much to be grateful for.

But, it has served as a powerful wake up to the continued long term impact of the pandemic - of feeling so desperate to travel, see family and connect with loved ones - that it consumed my whole being for a short while (which felt like forever at the time).

So I’m soaking in every moment, taking in the sounds, smells, sights and smiles of the people I meet, and being truly present to how blessed ‘right now’ is.

Thank you to all my lovely clients and followers in this #consciouscommunity for the messages of support and well wishes - it’s meant so much 💚
